and are independent of other families of that name

The tartan was recorded by the City of Dunedin in Lord Lyon Public Register of all Arms & Bearings 36/86 on 25th November 1947

The sett also appears in the work of W and A Smith (1850) who claim that their sample was collected in the Highlands by George Hunter, the Army clothier prior to 1822.
