Elio Grasso, Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera', 2016 giro-bello-club Texier's winemaking is radically traditional:A traditional Barolo from a benchmark Monforte vintage. Elio Grasso founded the estate in 1978 in Monforte d'Alba; today his son Gianluca leads the cellar. The family owns two adjacent crus on the Ginestra and Gavarini hills, and Vigna Chiniera is the single block within the Gavarini MGA, south facing, planted to old school Nebbiolo on calcareous clay marl. The wine is aged in large neutral oak in the family's hand dug cellar carved into the hillside.
